Zonder te oordelen laat hij zien hoe ouders tot totaal verschillende keuzes komen… Ver van de boom is een indrukwekkend panorama van de voorspelbare drama’s, de onverwachte vreugdes, de tonelen van uitputting, veerkracht, schaamte en liefde die zich afspelen achter de voordeuren van gezinnen met een kind dat “anders” is. De kracht van ouderliefde, zo laten al deze verhalen zien, is groot en onmisbaar, en in staat een hoop ellende en tegenslagen te overwinnen.

Far from the Tree is an impressive panorama of the predictable dramas, the unexpected joys, the scenes of exhaustion, resilience, shame and love going on behind the doors of families with a child who is “different.” The power of parental love, as illustrated in all of these stories, is great and indispensable, and capable of overcoming much trouble and adversity.
