Privacy Policy:

Welcome to, a website and mobile site created by Difference Unites Us, Inc. (a New York corporation) (“We,” “Us”) which lives at (the “Site”). We respect and protect the privacy of our visitors. This Privacy Policy applies to any information that is collected while you are on the Site. Our goal with this policy is to be transparent about the information we collect, how we use it, and how it is shared.

This Privacy Policy is part of our Terms of Service, and by using the Site you agree to both. Terms with initial capital letters used in this Privacy Policy shall have the respective meanings assigned to them in the Terms of Service.

We do not collect personally identifiable information from you unless you supply it voluntarily.

1. We collect limited information when you browse the site

When you visit the Site we collect log data, for example: the type of browser and operating system you are using, the address of the external or internal page that referred you, your Internet Protocol (“IP”) address and pages on the site that you visit in association with your IP address. We mostly use this information to diagnose issues with the site.

2. We collect information using cookies

Cookies enable us to better understand how visitors are using the site. Cookies are small data files that websites store in your hard drive. They create a unique id that is associated with your browser. We use first-party cookies for analytics, which tell us about user activity on our site. We do not use third-party cookies.

• Google Analytics: This website uses Google Analytics, a service which transmits website traffic data to Google servers in the United States. Google Analytics reports help us understand website traffic and webpage usage. Google Analytics does not identify individual users or associate your IP address with any other data held by Google. Additionally, we anonymize users’ IP addresses by stripping them of the last four digits before the data is passed from our server to Google Analytics. If you would prefer to opt out of this data collection, please disable JavaScript or visit the Google Analytics Opt-out Page here. The Google Analytics Privacy Policy can be read here.

• Social Media Widgets: We display sharing buttons so you can use social networking to share items from our site. Your interactions with these Widgets are governed by the privacy policy of the company providing them, not by this Privacy Policy. If you are a member of a social media site, the social media sharing interface may allow that site to connect your visits to the Site with other Personal Information in their possession.

• Mobile View: If you visit a page on the Site using a mobile device, we set a cookie that serves a version of the page in a format optimized for mobile viewing.

You may refuse the use of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings on your browser; however, if you do this you may not be able to use the full functionality of the Site; for instance, you may not be able to view versions of pages that are optimized for viewing on mobile devices.

3. We collect information when you sign up for The Newsletter from Andrew Solomon

When you subscribe to receive The Newsletter from Andrew Solomon (using the signup form at and in the “Sign Up for Updates” widget in the lower right column of most pages of the Site), we need your email address so that we can send it to you. By entering your email address into the box and clicking “Subscribe,” you consent to the addition of your address to our newsletter mailing list, and to the occasional missive. An unsubscribe link is included in every newsletter. We offer you the option to provide your first and/or last name, which we only use to personalize the message; you do not need to identify yourself or use your real name. We do not use your email for any other purpose than to send the Newsletter. You will remain on this list until you unsubscribe, which you can do at any time. We partner with MailChimp to provide email list services. Their privacy policy can be found here. We do not share our mailing list with anyone.

4. We collect information when you communicate with us via the Contact page or email

If you send email to Andrew Solomon using the form at, or directly, we will retain your email address or mailing address and correspondence so that we may respond to your inquiry. We retain this information indefinitely so that we have a history of our past communications.

The Contact form sends your name, email address, and message directly to Andrew Solomon, who will not share any personal information with anyone – not even with MailChimp. If you want to write to Andrew AND be added to our Newsletter list, please use both forms.

It is our policy not to share or sell your personally identifiable information with any third party. We may, however, share information under the following circumstances:

• If we receive your informed consent;

• If we believe doing so is reasonably necessary to comply with a law, regulation, or valid legal process. If we are going to release your information, we will do our best to provide you with notice in advance, if we have a means to contact you, unless we are prohibited by court order from doing so; or

• If we are acquired by or merged with another company. This Privacy Policy would continue to apply to any data collected while it was in place.

This website may contain links to other sites that are not owned or controlled by us. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of other sites.

We have adopted commercially reasonable technical, physical and administrative procedures to protect the confidentiality of the information that we collect on our site. However, the Internet is not a vault and data can be lost.

Difference Unites Us, Inc. is a New York-based company. All personal information we collect from our international users is processed according to the laws of the State of New York, United States.

In accordance with the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR), we will respond to reasonable requests for access to information held about a data subject (identified natural person who is the subject of personal data); rectify information held about a data subject pursuant to a valid request; communicate corrections of personal data to any third parties who have received the data; allow a data subject to revoke consent for a particular processing activity; honor valid requests to restrict the processing of data if requested by a data subject; respond to valid requests for erasure of data held about a data subject; honor requests from a data subject to have his or her personal data transferred directly to another controller; and, when technically feasible, respond to valid requests for erasure of data held about a data subject.
