On Tuesday, September 24 at noon and 7:00pm CST (3:00pm and 10:00pm EST; 10:00am and 5:00pm PST), Andrew Solomon will join the Glenbard Parent Series on Zoom to discuss his award-winning book, Far From the Tree: Parents, Children and the Search for Identity.
Solomon’s proposition in his book is that being exceptional is at the core of the human condition and that difference is what unites us. Solomon mines the inspiration and eloquence of ordinary people facing extreme challenges as he examines how parents experience generosity, acceptance and tolerance while navigating the world when a child falls far from the tree.
The GPS Parent Series: Navigating Healthy Families is dedicated to presenting distinguished, relevant authors, clinicians and educators who share their research-based knowledge and practical wisdom. Our mission is to enhance the positive development, resilience, and well-being of all students and families by building relationships, coping strategies, healthy habits, and responsible decision-making skills. All caregivers, professionals, students, community members, and organizations are welcome to these free conversations as we engage with experts about opportunities and issues children face. Visit the GPS Parent Series YouTube channel to view video clips from esteemed authors and speakers or watch full presentations of many GPS events.
Attendance is free and registration is not required. The Zoom links for the programs will be posted on the Glenbard Parent Series website shortly before the event.
