The Glenbard Parent Series: Navigating Healthy Families will host author Andrew Solomon, who will speak on the consequences of extreme differences between parents and children. Based on his interviews with over 300 families and Solomon’s own experience growing up, this presentation is an examination of the means by which families accommodate children with physical, mental and social disabilities and somehow find courage in the face of heartbreaking prejudice and difficulty. Difference is potentially isolating, but Solomon celebrates repeated triumphs of compassion to show that the shared experience of difference is what unites us. Hear the stories of the universal struggle toward tolerance, and the courageous power of parental love.

The Glenbard Parent Series is sponsored by the Cebrin Goodman Center, Cooperative Association for Special Education, College of DuPage, DuPage Medical Group, Emmy Gaffey Foundation and Trust Company of Illinois.

This program is free of charge. For more information, please visit or email us.
