For the 2016-2017 year, the Dallas Festival of Ideas has partnered with the Dallas Book Festival to co-locate events in the Dallas Central Library and Dallas City Hall/Plaza.

This year’s Dallas Festival of Ideas theme, Actions Speak Louder, and the festival’s focus on social equity, grew out of community forums in response to the July 27, 2016 ambush of Dallas police officers.

Founded in 2006 the Dallas Book Festival seeks to promote a love for books, reading and literacy through multilingual and multicultural activities with a focus on spotlighting the city of Dallas and its wide range of ethnic and cultural diversity.

At 10:00am, Andrew Solomon will give a fifteen-minute, TED-style lecture. At 11:00am, he will give a longer talk, followed by a book signing, at the Dallas Central Library. More information will be posted about these events as it becomes available; in the meantime, please visit the Dallas Festival of Ideas and Dallas Book Festival websites.
