Andrew Solomon Named for 2013 GRASP Friend & Benefactor Award

Far from the Tree: Parents, Children, and the Search for Identity (Scribner 2012)

by Michael John Carley

As we prepare for the 2013 GRASP benefit on Tuesday, May 14 at the Synagogue for the Arts on 49 White Street in New York City, we want to showcase the recipients of our three awards.

Listed by many literary critics as the best overall book of 2012, Andrew Solomon’s Far From the Tree has benefited GRASP’s Mission in indirect, but in an indescribably vast manner. This immense and thorough book, describing the travails of families impacted by numerous diagnoses, is one of the greatest tributes we now have to pluralism itself.
